Is Spiritual Direction Right for Me?
Anyone who desires to grow in their relationship with God would do well in spiritual direction. However, there can often be some sort of catalyst. For instance, you may be in a transition. Or, you may have an important decision to make and want to discern that decision with God. You may be having difficulty generally in praying and connecting with God or may be in a particularly challenging life circumstance and want to see where God is in it.
The important thread is that you are experiencing the desire to engage more with God, whether that is around a particular purpose or not, whether prayer is consoling, a struggle, or even painful.
What can I expect in a one-on-one session?
I usually begin and end a session with a prayer, poem or reflection either chosen by me or brought in by you. Sometimes there are times of silence. The bulk of the session is a conversation around a topic, event, experience or wondering presented from your life experiences and reflection. I come alongside you in conversation to explore, ask questions, and make observations that illuminate God’s activity and presence in your life, deepen your experience of God, and facilitate growth in love, discernment, and joyful freedom in all areas of your life.
I am happy to meet with people online or in person in my North Berkeley office location.
Free initial consultation: I like to have an initial conversation to discern fit and answer any questions there may be. If there are questions about the difference between spiritual direction and counseling, mentoring or pastoral care, I am happy to discuss that as part of the directee’s discernment process.
Financial Cost
Sessions are generally one hour long. I suggest $75-$100 per session generally and $50 per session for those in ministry. I am willing to work with an individual budget as needed.
